SPONSOR A NUN

His Holiness’s nuns are preserving and transmitting the Tibetan heritage and dedicating their lives for the welfare of others. In Ladakh, Nepal and India, there are many nuns that need sponsoring to maintain their chosen spiritual way of life. By becoming a sponsor you can help protect and nurture the ordained communities.

How Sponsorship Works

His Holiness the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa wishes that the money raised through sponsorship be used in the following way:

* 70% - towards the upkeep of the nun and nunnery
* 20% - a small allowance for personal spending money
* 10% - towards a benevolent fund for medical aid or any other emergencies that arise

To sponsor a nun costs £240 per year, however if you cannot afford this we have sponsors that give from £60 - £120 per year and then share the sponsorship with another sponsor which we can arrange.

HERE ARE FIVE NEW NUNS IN NEED OF SPONSORSHIP

Jigme TSETAN CHOYLA (HHN290) is 20 years old and from Tibet. Her father's name is Nawang Dorje

Jigme MANDARAVA(HHN292) is 13 years old and from the village of Tigret. Her father's name is Nawang Guyrmed

Jigme PALDON (HHN291) is 17 years old and from the village of Fagal. Her father's name is Tsewang Dorje

Jigme DORJE KHANDRO (HHN288), 32 years old she is a new nun from Bhutan and her father's name was Thinley

Jigme PALDAN LADON, she is 20 years old and a new nun from Tibet. Her father's name is Chugu

Over the last year more than 100 new nuns have taken their vows and they are now at the Druk Amitabha Mountain (training with His Holiness’s guidance). If you look at the Amitabha link you will see their location. This new influx of nuns has given us a renewed opportunity to become involved with His Holiness's nuns and His humanitairian works. There are still some nuns left who need a sponsor so please use the on-line credit card facility or send us an email and we will give you the chance to be involved with their sponsorship.

If you would just like to be involved but in a more general way you can make a donation to the nunnery. We are therefore requesting sponsors to donate whatever they can afford on a monthly basis to go towards the Nunnery Appeal. A new Amitabha nunnery is to be built when the funds are in place and then there will be many more nuns looking for sponsorship.

As the nuns progress in their practice they will be allowed to go to the nunnery at Kortsa, Ladakh, do look at the Kortsa newsletter on the Kortsa link.
